The Wakeland football team got off to an impressive start Friday night with a 53-17 victory at Sulphur Springs.
Dylan Laible threw for 224 yards and five touchdowns -- four of them to Kevin Rychel. Jared White and Charlie Burkhart each rushed for a touchdown for Wakeland.
Sulphur Springs took an early 10-0 lead, but the Wolverines took control after that. The Wakeland defense shut out Sulphur Springs in the second half.
Wakeland next plays Richardson Pearce on Friday at Toyota Stadium.
